The Housing Authority of the County of Alameda (HACA), as the recipient of federal financial assistance, is required to take reasonable steps to ensure meaningful access to its programs and activities by Limited English Proficient (LEP) persons. LEP persons are defined as persons who do not speak English as their primary langauge and who have a limited ability to read, write, speak or understand English and may be entitled to a particular type of service, benefit, or encounter.
HACA provides written translations of vital documents into Cantonese, Farsi, Spanish and Vietnamese, as HACA’s budget allows. HACA also provides free oral interpreter services for LEP persons upon request to conduct housing authority buisness.
