Termination of Housing Assistance Due to Crime

HUD requires HACA to terminate a family’s assistance if any household member is engaged in any illegal use of a drug or has engaged in any drug-related or violent criminal activity.

  • If you suspect that any household member of a family that is a Public Housing tenant, or that is receiving Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program assistance1,  is engaged in any illegal use of a drug or has engaged in any drug-related or violent criminal activity, promptly report your observations to the local police department.
  • After you have notified the police department, use HACA’s Fraud Hot-Line at (510) 727-8519 or HACA’s Report Fraud Form to notify HACA.  Provide as much detailed information as possible, including the police department incident number if you have it.

Report Fraud. It Matters. (HACA’s Jurisdiction ONLY).

1 HACA is prevented by law from divulging if a tenant is a Section 8 HCVP participant.
